Tinto Fino, Albillo, Alicante Bouschet and Garnacha. In Atauta, Soria, at 950–1,000 m. Prephylloxera vineyard. 40% whole bunches, 60% destemmed. 18 days’ maceration. 30% new barrels. Concentration, silky texture and firm, enveloping tannin. Although it seems forceful, it flows freshly on the palate. Very concentrated red- and black-fruit flavours, with hints of violets that somehow make me think of northern Rhône wines. Very smooth for a Ribera. A fabulous food wine. (FC)

93.4% Tempranillo, 4.4% Abillo, 2.2% Alicante Bouschet. NHB. Transparent garnet. Lively, light and fresh. Sinewy and very unlike most Riberas, Presumably based on very old vines. Well done and really interesting. Very 21st century. (JR)
