Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2010 Palazzi is mostly Merlot with a dollop of other grapes, mainly Cabernet Franc. It is also the richest of the 2010s. Firm yet well-integrated tannins frame a deep core of dark red fruit. This is an especially powerful wine for 2010, a vintage that gave Franchetti very little to work with. The 2010 spent just five months in oak. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020. (Antonio Galloni)
Wine Advocate
100% Merlot. Picking started 5 October. Deep dark crimson. Starting to show some real complexity. Very rich and sweet but with attractive grittiness and freshness on the end. Slightly inky. But more refreshing and finer than the 2009 and 1999. More sophisticated. (JR)
