2000 Roberto Voerzio, Barolo, Brunate Capalot Riserva

The 2000 Barolo Riserva Vecchie Viti dei Capalot e delle Brunate (magnum) flows with the essence of smoke, tar and dark plums. It is one of the darker, more inward wines in this lineup. Sweet spiced, mentholated notes appear with time as the fruit continues to fill out its broad-shouldered frame as the wine builds towards its muscular, enveloping finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. Roberto Voerzio’s 2000s are among the most successful wines of the vintage. That’s not terribly surprising given Voerzio’s virtually unparalleled track record of making profound wines that can age, even in the smallest of vintages. The 2000s are only now beginning to approach their early maturity. These remain beautiful, fresh Baroli that will deliver considerable pleasure for years to come.
