Serralunga d’Alba. Powerful, minerally nose but clearly not open yet. The palate shows the same reluctance but the sweet fruit and muscular tannins are beautifully balanced. Such elegance! (WS)

Pale crimson. Rather low-key nose. A little muddy in its impact. Stewed fruit? Something a bit medicinal. Cuts off a bit suddenly. (JR)
