Pira is a selection from relatively young vines - in the context of Roagna - of 45 years, 'with a splash of older vines,' according to Luca Roagna. The wine shines for its bright ruby-garnet colour, with aromas of blood orange, tar and macerated flowers. The sleek palate expresses wild strawberry fruit and a cherry kernel finish with firm, angular, grainy tannins. This tight, fresh, still-youthful wine is bracing and classic.
