Tasting Notes and Scores
The Azelia 2020 Barolo Margheria (with 5,500 bottles released) shows a floral and fruity side of Serralunga d'Alba fruit. However, this expression also maintains a sense of those ferrous mineral notes that come with the territory. I find all these wines from Azelia in 2020 to be thin and simple in terms of mouthfeel, and I would recommend opening this bottle closer to the near term than not. The Margheria vines are 65 years old on average.

The 2020 Barolo Margheria is laced with dark red cherry, iron, gravel, white pepper, incense and licorice. Muscular Serralunga tannins wrap it all together. Ultimately, the Margheria comes across as a bit light, especially in the mid-palate.
