Tasting Notes and Scores
Alessandria's 2008 Barolo San Lorenzo wraps around the palate with superb intensity and depth. Layers of expressive dark fruit nearly manage to bury the tannins in this muscular, intense wine. With time in the glass, hints of menthol, smoke and tar emerge, adding further gravitas to what is a decidedly dark, brooding expression of Nebbiolo. In 2008, the San Lorenzo is a wine for the very patient.

Medium red. Exotic red berries and a whiff of mulch on the sweet nose. Then less decadent in the mouth than the nose suggests, showing good energy, medium body and a note of tea leaf. Finishes juicy and persistent, with smooth tannins.
