94-95 JR

Inky purple. Exotically perfumed scents of blackberry liqueur, Asian spices and potpourri, with a mineral quality adding vibrancy. Spicy and focused on the palate, showing excellent depth and thrust to its sappy dark berry, spicecake and candied violet flavors. Mineral-driven and seamless in texture, finishing with supple tannins and lingering spiciness. Pretty seductive right now for this bottling, which is often more standoffish at this stage. Note that this wine was still in barrel when I tasted it in mid-December.
