Tasting Notes and Scores
The new wood has been pared back in the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Clos de Beauvenir, a 70-30 blend of Roussanne and Grenache Blanc aged predominantly in demi-muids, with 15% going into new barriques. Hints of oaky spice accent pineapple and lime notes on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is rich and silky in texture, even a trifle phenolic on the finish in its youth. This should be even better in another year or two.

56% Roussanne, 44% Grenache Blanc. Whole-bunch-pressed and vinified in demi-muids (70%) and stainless-steel tanks (30%). Aged for nine months in demi-muids. Certified organic. Tasted blind. Plenty of oak on the rich nose. A huge, mouth-filling richness and concentration of flavours – honey, flowers, toasty oak and excellent energy as well. So much to enjoy here. Full-throttle, intense style; and has oak but that will integrate in the coming five years. (AC)
