Tasting Notes and Scores

The 2020 Volnay Clos de la Rougeotte 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet. Wilted rose petals infuse the brambly red fruit, and the oak is neatly integrated. Perhaps a little stem addition? It blossoms nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. It presents fresh red fruit, quite citrus-fresh, with hints of orange rind, allspice and a touch of white pepper. It just misses a bit of Pinoté on the finish, hence my conservative score. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
