Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2017 Volnay Clos de la Rougeotte 1er Cru has a light, almost Pommard-like bouquet, taut and fresh if a little aloof. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, chalky tannins matched with a fine bead of acidity. There’s good salinity here – this Volnay gets the saliva flowing – and impressive persistence on the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
