Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2019 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru has a delightful and cohesive bouquet with perfumed, floral red berry fruit, light sous-bois scents and finely-knitted oak. There is precision here and more terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied, showing sappy red fruit, fine delineation, ample vibrancy, gentle grip and a lightly spiced finish. This is a pretty, relatively tensile Volnay that I suspect will mature in bottle better than many of its peers. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
