The 2020 Beaune Les Avaux 1er Cru includes 20% whole bunch this year. It is well-defined on the nose with brambly red fruit, peony and undergrowth, a touch of iodine emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite fleshy and sensual, perhaps just needing a little more grip on the finish. Otherwise this is fine and probably quite approachable.
