The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru La Richemone Vieilles Vignes "Cuvée Ultra" has a mineral-driven bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit suffused with flinty, slate-like scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, a fine line of acidity, fresh from the start but maintaining impressive elegance and poise right to the finish. This has great potential and it should age well for a couple of decades.

Richly fragrant on the aroma, much more so than their Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes. Finely ground but firm tannic mouthfeel. Good, lengthy red fruit on the finish with an attractive medicinal note. (RH)
