Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is nuanced on the nose. Yellow fruit commingles with subtle nougat, toffee and apple scents, with very focused with cleverly integrated oak. There is an effortlessness about these aromatics. The palate is well balanced with yellow plum, orange rind and hints of ginger and white pepper, but this is just missing that bravura finish that would have merited a higher score. It’s a bit oily in texture, which I actually quite like, but maybe just a bit too alcoholic. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
