The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru has quite a primal nose of grapefruit and freshly sliced pears with a touch of fig in the background. The palate is well balanced with a lightly spiced entry. There is good weight here—a Puligny with fine density, though it needs more precision and nerve on the finish to compete with the elite from this vineyard.
