Tasting Notes and Scores
(10% vendange entier Medium red. Strawberry, spices and good mineral lift on the nose. Dense, juicy and aromatic, with lovely delineation to the red fruit, mineral and floral flavors. A very fresh and balanced 2009, with an almost minty nuance from the stem component. With its very thin layer of soil over calcaire, this site benefits from a warm year, notes Lignier.

The 2009 Morey St. Denis en la Rue de Vergy presents gorgeous delineation in its vibrant, perfumed fruit. Dark cherries, spices, licorice and white flowers are some of the nuances that take shape in the glass in this refined, subtle Morey. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
Virgile Lignier’s 2009s show notable intensity and ripeness, but also preserve quite a bit of freshness through the use of whole clusters, which reach as much as 100% in two wines. The Bourgogne and Chambolle were bottled in December 2010. I tasted all of the other wines from tank. Bottling was scheduled for the end of March 2011. Readers will find notes on a handful of 2008s on www.erobertparker.com.

Outstanding. A ripe yet fresh nose of extract of cranberry, cherry and wet stone precedes middle weight flavors that possess good verve and energy while exuding fine minerality on the linear, focused and lingering finish. Even in a very ripe vintage like 2009 this is a wine of finesse and elegance. Worth considering. Drink: 2016+

Reduction knocks down the nose but there is good verve and freshness to the detailed, cool and restrained middle weight flavors that exude a fine minerality, all wrapped in a linear, focused and lingering finish. As it usually is, this is a wine of finesse and elegance. Drink: 2016+
