The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin En Créot comes from the unfashionable Brochon side of the appellation. This is 100% de-stemmed, while you would think there is a touch of whole bunches here - rather, it articulates the pepperiness from the limestone soils. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, moderate depth, slightly lactic towards the finish with a somewhat bitter aftertaste. It will require a couple of years in bottle.

Rather more solid and severe than my ideal Chambolle (because it turned out to be Gevrey!) but it will certainly have a future! (JR)
