Tasting Notes and Scores
Luchets is downslope from Vireuils, and Roulot owns just over 1ha here. This is among the richer offerings from Roulot, with ripe apple fruit, beeswax and a hint of mineral. The position on the slope gives the wine density, while Roulot’s penchant for early picking and his careful winemaking ensure that there is sufficient structure to balance the wine admirably.

The 2019 Meursault Les Luchets has a touch more mineralité than the Meix Chavaux, just a heightened sense of tension. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Very saline in the mouth, good tension with a long finish. This has plenty of vigour and a bit of muscle, a hint of ginger on the saline aftertaste. Long term fare.

This is Roulot’s biggest holding – more than 1 ha (2.5 acres). Some vines planted 2006, the remainder 50–60 years old. 10% new oak. Currently in tank on full lees. A little timid on the nose. Some sweetness and it seems a tad fat after the Meix Chavaux. Round. I’d wait for a bit more complexity. Lemon Strepsils (throat lozenges)? (JR)
