Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Saint-Marc 1er Cru is just a little monotone on the nose, well-defined but missing a sense of personality. It does gain presence in the glass but stubbornly refuses to engage. The palate is slightly bitter on the entry, the oak a bit clumsy, quite spicy and nutty à la Meursault toward the finish. It does show improvement with aeration, so maybe bottle age will benefit this Chassagne-Montrachet. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
