Tasting Notes and Scores
Dark cherries, plums, cloves, new leather and menthol inform the 2012 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts, a wine that boasts notable length and overall balance. This is another of the slightly reticent wines in the range, so patience is going to be required. Still, I very much like what I see at this stage. Readers should be aware the Malconsorts will be bottled only in magnum.

(just two and a half barrels made, one of them new): Bright medium red. Less expressive and perfumed than the Suchots, with blacker fruit aromas complicated by strong minerality. More taut and dry in the mouth too, showing an almost inky quality to its black fruit, mineral and pepper flavors. This seriously concentrated wine is unyielding today and needs more elevage.
