Tasting Notes and Scores
Bright, dark red. Pure but subdued aromas of raspberry, minerals, rose petal and flinty stone. Wonderfully suave on entry, then vibrant and sappy in the middle, with pungent raspberry and crushed stone flavors boasting outstanding density and freshness. Mounts impressively on the back half, finishing with outstanding lift and perfume and broad, fine-grained tannins that reach the front teeth. Exciting wine.

A highly expressive and complete knockout of a nose is classic Amoureuses as it combines seductive spice and a ripe blend of red, black and blue fruit aromas trimmed in subtle floral notes that complement the rich, sweet, fresh and energetic medium full flavors that are supple and classy, supported by sophisticated tannins and simply gorgeous purity of expression on the terrifically long finish. Impressive in every respect.

The 2006 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has darker fruit on the nose compared to other wines of this vintage, with touches of mint and clove, broody, perhaps missing a bit of Pinoté. The palate is defined by its firm tannins. This is a broad-shouldered Les Amoureuses with a slightly labored finish. I was expecting more, to be frank. Tasted at the Les Amoureuses vertical at Hide restaurant.
