2012 Domaine de Montille, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru

A deep, structured wine, the 2012 Clos Vougeot boasts superb intensity to match its expressive, layered personality. Blue and black-toned fruit, cloves, leather and violets. Next to the Corton, the ClosVougeot is dense and resonant, with multiple dimensions that slowly reveal themselves with time. Today, the 2012 is massive and imposing, yet I find a level of purity in the fruit that is absolutely striking.

(100% vendange entier; 60% new oak): Good deep red. Highly complex aromas of dark raspberry, cherry, pepper, spices and bitter chocolate. Intensely flavored, silky and sexy if a bit youthfully taut, with a three-dimensional mouth feel and suave tannins that melt beautifully into the wine's fruit. Finishes broad, silky, subtle and long. Already very sexy but built to age.
