Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru is initially a little facile, though gains complexity and exudes whole bunch character. The palate is more promising with impressive substance on the entry - this really grips and demonstrates weight and concentration. Grainy texture, cranberry and raspberry fruit with a dash of white pepper towards the finish and a tinge of graphite on the aftertaste. Atypically rather cool and the more I am acquainted with this, the more its pedigree is revealed. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
