Tasting Notes and Scores

81 NM

Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques from Rene Leclerc has a slightly confected bouquet that says more about the winemaking than the vineyard at the moment. Dark cherry and cassis fruit, even a hint of honey developing with aeration. The palate is sweet, rather cloying in the mouth. There is low acidity here and the finish is simply lacking much energy or tension. I suspect that this might have been picked too late.
