The 2022 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru, the vineyard that has been worked by horse and by hand since 2018, is very precise on the nose, mixing red and black fruit with hints of graphite and crushed stone. Impressive complexity here. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins and a fine bead of acidity. There’s a little more succulence towards the finish where it doesn't quite possess the complexity of Lafarge's top cuvées. Still, a mighty fine Volnay.

Pure and fine-boned, the 2022 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets wafts from the glass with scents of cherries, sweet red berries, toasted spices and subtle balsamic overtones. Medium-bodied, bright and precise, it's a delicate, perfumed wine that concludes with a mineral finish.
