2020 Domaine Michel Lafarge, Beaune Premier Cru, Les Aigrots Rouge

The 2020 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru has an airy bouquet, very transparent with redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, the 15% new oak nearly integrated. Very minerally. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. This is a strict and mineral driven Beaune, very tensile but with ample weight and concentration on the finish. Excellent.

The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots soars from the glass with aromas of wild berries, sweet spices, loamy soil and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, vibrant and intense, it's a deep, concentrated wine framed by velvety tannins and tangy acids. This will be very long lived.

On clay-limestone soil; on the Beaune side of the Clos des Mouches. Cask sample. Pale lemon; drier on the palate, but lovely depth and texture. (MH)
