Tasting Notes and Scores
eRobertParker.com December, 2013 The glorious 2012 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru, which is domaine-owned, shows a little more wood at the moment although it is embroidered with the carapace black cherry and raspberry fruit. With aeration, it reveals attractive sea spray aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with cashmere tannins and sensual texture that lend it a more Vosne-like personality. It is very harmonious and there is a thrilling crescendo towards its precocious, yet classy finish. Superb. ()

Medium-deep red. Very ripe aromas of cherry, red licorice, graphite and sweet oak. Dense, creamy and deep, showing a seamless texture and terrific sappy verve to the flavors of red fruits and pungent minerals. A grand cru of compelling suavity, with a powerful mounting finish displaying chewy, noble tannins, saline minerality and a lovely light touch. Again, this is a domain wine.

The 2012 Chapelle-Chambertin bursts from the glass with dark cherry, plum, spice, menthol and new leather. Rich and enveloping, the 2012 is one of the more sensual, voluptuous wines in this range. Accordingly, the 2012 should be cellared for at least a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to drop off. Today, it is the wine's inner perfume, silky personality and exceptional balance that impress most. There is plenty of promise here.

Heady, rich and sweet with lots of ripe fruit and seduction. Gorgeous! Maybe not for the very long term but gather ye rosebuds while ye may. Such charm! Long. Drink 2017 to 2027 (JR)
