Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has quite an intense bouquet with mineral-rich citrus fruit, touches of flint and smoke developing in the glass. It has wonderful definition and gains more presence with several minutes' aeration. The palate is well balanced with a silver bead of acidity threaded through the slightly vanillary fruit. A delicate touch of ginger lends more complexity to the harmonious finish. This is an excellent Bâtard-Montrachet.

The 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot) is rich and muscular, unwinding in the glass with aromas of minty pear, peach, white flowers and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, layered and textural, with a dense core of fruit, ripe acids and a long, lusty finish, it's a classic rendition of the appellation.

Vinified in mainly new oak. Cask sample. Subtle oak overlay of spice and oatmeal over the tangy lemon and green fruits. Rich, intensely youthful yet with great potential thanks to the freshness and the depth of fruit. Really long. (JH)
