Tasting Notes and Scores
Aromas of rich berry fruit, dried flowers, heady spices and loamy soil introduce Guyon's 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, a full-bodied, rich and muscular wine that's fleshy and enveloping, with powdery tannins and succulent acids. Powerful and broad-shouldered, this will require some patience.

The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru shows just a little reduction on the nose, but there is plenty of fruit here, dark cherries mixed with raspberry. A floral scent emerges with time. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, just a smear of dark chocolate that slightly obscures the terroir expression, likewise some CO2 and brettanomyces. Maybe a heavier oak toasting here? That might be addressed with bottle age but I find that the wine dries out considerably on the finish in the glass. Muddled. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
