Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Beaumonts had a little more reduction on the nose when I visited in October, although underneath there are some lovely dark cherry and raspberry fruit, perhaps veering a little black compared to the Brulees. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins that exert a gentle grip. There is a pleasing salinity here that become more accentuated toward the structure finish. Aristocratic!

Good deep red. Musky, reduced nose hints at underbrush; much more introverted than the Brûlées today. Then bigger and creamier on the palate, but with a restrained sweetness to the flavors of red fruits, earth, pepper and spices. Still quite backward, and showing a larger tannic structure than the Brûlées. This wine will need time to reveal its charms; today one sees just the tip of the iceberg.
