Tasting Notes and Scores
Dark, bright red. Deep aromas of raspberry, smoke and rose petal. Silky, sweet and utterly seamless; perfectly harmonious from the start ("very Zen," says Fourrier). Wonderfully perfumed raspberry and floral flavors carry through the rising, palate-saturating finish, which features outstanding crushed-stone lift. This is 2010-like in its balance of fruit intensity and piquant minerality. Fourrier told me he was the first to pick among the five owners of Clos Saint-Jacques in 2013, bringing in his fruit on October 4.

On the nose, that immediate sense of layering and mystery that says ‘grand cru’, which of course Clos-Saint-Jacques is, in all but law. Backward and angular, but so much material here. (AH)
