Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is from the last vineyard Tawse picked in 2019 and is completely destemmed. It has a very well-defined bouquet of intense red fruit, a strong marine influence and wonderful mineralité . The palate is silky-smooth with fine delineation and harmony, more black and blueberry fruit emerging toward the seamlessly integrated finish. A beautifully crafted Lavaux Saint-Jacques.

Destemmed, 30% new oak. Old vines, 50% planted late 1940s and 50% 60 years old. Barrel sample. Sweet, smooth and energetic. Lots of polish and blackberry fruit. Doesn’t seem to exhibit much coolness of the site(!) but it’s an attractive, rather forward drink with a hint of mint. (JR)
