Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St-Jacques 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet of brambly red fruit, sous-bois and briary notes, gaining precision with each swirl of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, taut and fresh, with fine-grained tannins and fine poise. I appreciate the backbone, and there is plenty of nascent energy palpable on the finish. A fabulous 2017 from Tawse. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
