Tasting Notes and Scores
(40% new oak): Sexy, high-toned aromas and flavors of raspberry and smoky minerals. Creamy-sweet on the palate, offering lovely immediate sex appeal and finishing with furry tannins and lovely persistence. As with the rest of these 2013s, all of the fruit was destemmed.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint Jacques comes from a single parcel that runs straight up the hill. There is one demi-muid and one barrel. The nose is showing more new oak than the Champeaux at the moment. The palate is slightly chewy on the entry with good acidity, but the oak is imposing itself a little too strongly on the finish. Maybe it will improve during the remainder of its maturation, but it does need to absorb that oak.
