Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Beaune Vignes Franches 1er Cru has a fuller and riper bouquet than Sebastien Magnien's Beaune Aigrots tasted alongside, with ample red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit. Later, there are hints of marmalade with light wet clay scents (sweet, like children’s play-dough!). The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant acidic attack on the entry, and slightly balsamic in style, presenting sour cherry and sea salt on a finish that bristles with tension. This is a little reticent at the moment but it does open and gain momentum in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 30 closure)
