Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Champonnets 1er Cru has much more fruit intensity than the Evocelles: Morello cherries, wild strawberries and touches of rooibos. Lovely. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins. Elegant and tensile. A heartwarming sense of sapidity and sensuality on the finish draws you back for another sip. This is very promising.

Cask sample. Fresh, pure fruit flavour, a bit less plumpness than the village Gevrey but makes up for this with focus and a linear precision which makes the wine extremely appealing. Dark-red fruit. Crisp acidity. Some floral notes on the finish. A very complete and refined premier cru. (AWH)
