2019 Benjamin Leroux, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, Aux Boudots

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet of red cherries, raspberry and bergamot scents, becoming increasingly floral with aeration. The palate is well balanced and completely disguises the two-thirds whole bunch. Very harmonious, with a lithe and quite persistent finish. Excellent. This is a superb NSG from Leroux. Three barrels produced.

The 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots is another highlight, exhibiting a complex bouquet of peonies, bergamot, plums and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, charming and perfumed palate that's lively and supple, framed by melting tannins and concluding with a saline finish.

Leroux is a big fan of Boudots. Goedhuis get a lot of this wine. Never racked. One-third new oak. Barrel sample. Transparent crimson. Solid and broad. Aromatic. Quite racy but more solid than the Vosne village wine with a certain inky quality at this point. (JR)
