2008 Ghislaine Barthod, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, Aux Beaux Bruns

The 2008 Chambolle-Musigny Les Beaux-Bruns is a beautiful wine. The linearity of the vintage is nicely balanced by the fleshiness this site confers. The Beaux Bruns is a relatively approachable 2008 that impresses for its gorgeous balance and long, polished finish.

Bright, deep red. Slightly reduced aromas of dark fruits and licorice. Then surprisingly sweet and silky in the middle palate but with good energy to go with its ripe fruit flavors. I like this wine's medicinal reserve and echoing, minerally back end. Offers the enticing combination of fresh acidity and fleshiness that I routinely found in this wine in the '90s but have missed in some recent warm years.

This is not quite as elegant though it's every bit as complex with a layered nose of ripe plum and violet aromas that are rich and possess good volume on the detailed, linear and moderately austere finish that is attractively persistent. Drink 2015+.
