Medium red. Deep, expressive, vibrant nose offers raspberry, cherry, smoky minerality, mocha and spices, plus a whiff of tobacco. Fat, silky and very rich; a real fruit bomb in the mouth but with superb sappy depth. Most impressive today on the very long, palate-staining finish, which features superb lift and ripe tannins that coat the front teeth. This will be long-lived.

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Veroilles, from the highest part of the village, is the most inward, powerful and taut of these 2009s. The aromas and flavors remain high-toned and tight, but as the tannins soften, this should develop into an expressive, beautiful wine. The Veroilles will require considerable patience.
