The 2023 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru has an intense nose of dried honey, walnut and crushed stone—clean and precise, quintessentially Charmes. The oak is neatly subsumed. The palate is wonderful: slightly honeyed in texture, rounded and weighty, not as mineral-driven as the Perrières but the sheer presence of this Meursault is captivating. An outstanding wine from Charles Ballot.
