Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is super-polished and refined. There is a wonderful sense of translucence in the Lavaux that has been achieved while maintaining the depth and pliancy that is such a signature of the Burguet wines. Succulent red cherry, pomegranate and mint notes get an extra kick of aromatic lift on the perfumed, silky finish. I tasted the 2015 from a one year-old barrel. The finished wine will have a little more new oak than has been the norm in recent years, as the Burguets thought the vintage had the stuffing to handle a touch more new wood.
