Tasting Notes and Scores
This was the first vintage this was made as a single-vineyard wine. Picked earlier for texture rather than fruit ripeness. Lightly oaky/creamy nose but subtle lemon freshness. This has a great line of freshness, less immediate fruit that the Estate Chardonnay, more single-minded, more mineral. Brilliant cool-climate finesse – no lack of fruit but it is not about the fruit. Slaty, stony, salty aftertaste. Stunning and sophisticated. (JH)
